    SOCMA speaks for and serves specialty chemical companies which make products essential to the life, health and well-being of people everywhere. SOCMA achieves its mission by:

    SOCMA is the recognized voice of the specialty chemical industry. SOCMA strives to enable safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible operations which are internationally competitive and contribute to a healthy, productive economy.

    OUR HISTORY

    1921
    SOCMA founded as the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association in New York; Dr. Charles Herty was first SOCMA President; Herbert Hoover gave the keynote address at SOCMA’s organizational meeting.
    1970s
    SOCMA moves headquarters to Washington, D.C.
    1977
    Association Management Services (AMS) established.
    1984
    SOCMA launches InformEx Trade Show.
    2005
    InformEx sold.
    2005
    ChemStewards launched.
    2009
    SOCMA name changed to Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates.
    2019
    SOCMA launches refreshed brand, with new tagline “Solutions for Specialties”
